We Believe
New Hope Lutheran Church is a supportive community of family, friends, and faith. As a part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), we worship together and grow in faith, becoming better equipped to serve our Hudsonville, Michigan community. We strive to reach new heights in our relationships with each other and God through the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
- The Bible is God’s inspired, infallible Word.
- In the Bible, God is revealed as The Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- God created the world and all that exists.
- Man is born with original sin and cannot save himself.
- We need God’s law to remind us of our sin and move us to repent.
- God answers the prayers of believers.
- God expects all Christians to be baptized, including infants.
- Baptism makes you a member of Christ’s body, the Church.
- God’s Holy Spirit works on the hearts of His people through Word and Sacrament to create, strengthen, and guide our faith.
- Jesus Christ, true God and true man, born of the Virgin Mary, died on the cross for all sins, and rose bodily on the third day.
- When a person receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, they will want to live according to the will of Christ by: putting Christ first in their life, worshiping on a regular basis, studying God’s Word regularly, using the Sacraments frequently, giving faithfully to the work of Christ’s Church, seeking ways to serve Him through ministry to others, and telling others of His wondrous love.
- Salvation through the forgiveness of sins comes only through faith in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.
- The body and blood of Christ are really present in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper for the forgiveness of sins. Only those who share that belief should commune with us.
- God strengthens our faith and love through the Lord’s Supper
History
Since then we have continued to grow in our relationships with God, the communities we live in, and our church family.
Ministry Assistant
minassist@nhlchurch.org
My husband Bill and I started attending New Hope Lutheran Church in 2018 and after being welcomed by the wonderful congregation we knew that God had led us here to this wonderful “family” of believers and became members in 2019. I grew up in Holland Michigan attending Zion Lutheran Church and being confirmed there. God blesses each of us with special gifts to carry out his work here on Earth until we are called to join Him, and I have always felt the calling to serve and help others where needed. I enjoy volunteering for various functions and have always had the desire to help others in fulfilling their needs when needed. So, when the position of Ministry Assistant became available, I felt like it was perfect to help serve others. My husband and I have a daughter, son, and five grandkids that we spend as much time as possible with. When I am not busy with our grandkids and family I enjoy quilting, crafting, and spending time with my husband. I am always amazed with the blessings God continues to give me and my family and feel our gifts should be shared with others so that they may see how wonderful God’s love and grace is for all of us.

My name is Adam Kosberg. I have been blessed to be the pastor at New Hope since July of 2021. My role at New Hope is to proclaim God’s word, give his gifts, and equip others to do the same. This happens most publicly at Sunday morning worship, but also includes one-on-one conversations, Bible studies, missional communities, and home and hospital visits. When I am not working I enjoy spending time (outside if possible) with my wife Sonja, and my two boys Oskar and Louis.
Business Administrator
busadmin@nhlchurch.org I am blessed by God, and revel in His devotion to every breath of my life. So my best self-description is: “Blessed Child of God”. I am blessed to be Aunt Lisa. They are truly the best gifts God has entrusted to me, and I cherish time spent with them. I was also blessed to be an elementary and special education teacher. God asked me to step away from the job I loved to concentrate on bringing my heart away from failure. My work career as an accountant began nearly 40 years ago as a high school co-op at Dow Chemical, after typing a blazing 120 words per minute and earning a scholarship for a new-fangled technology called word processing. I was blessed to receive my early education at Beaver Zion Lutheran School in Auburn, Michigan; which, at 130 years old, is one of the oldest Lutheran schools in Michigan. I was blessed to earn a B.A. from Michigan State University and thoroughly enjoy watching Spartan sports. I was blessed to care for those with Alzheimer’s during my graduate studies in gerontology at University of Kentucky. And, at age 39, God called me to return to grad school at GVSU to become a teacher, which blessedly fed my soul in serving children. I am blessed to enjoy being a writer, quilter, painter, and chef. And am I blessed and honored to serve this congregation as its business manager. May the Lord bless and keep us all in service to Him.
